Los Angeles-based musician Lijie will perform as part of Frostburg State University’s Lunch in The Loft Music Series sponsored by the University Programming Council on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Derezinski Lounge/Loft in the Lane University Center.
Lijie moved to the United States from China at age 5 with her parents, who imagined her leading a traditional Asian/American lifestyle of getting good grades, learning to play classical piano and proceeding to college to become anything other than a musician. But Lijie’s plans were different from her parent’s right from the beginning. Her never-fail habit of falling hard and fast in love became the impetus for her music. Lijie states that “music is my sanity.” After completing college, Lijie moved to L.A. and waited tables for two years while she developed her first album, “Roam.”
The performance is free and open to the public. For information, contact the Lane University Center Information Desk at 301-687-44111.
