FSU Senior Joseph Brickey-Goldsmith Will Perform Voice Recital

Frostburg State University senior Joseph Brickey-Goldsmith will perform a voice recital at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the FSU Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. His performance is free and open to the public.

The recital will include Caldara’s “Alma del core”; Caccini’s “Amarilli, mia bella”; Bellini’s “Vaga luna, che inargenti”; Handel’s “Where’re You Walk” and “O Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me” from “Semele”; Brahms’ “Dein blaues Auge”; Schubert’s “Wanderers Nachtlied” and “Der Tod und das Mädchen”; Quilter’s “Come Away, Death” from “Three Shakespeare Songs” and “Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal”; Ireland’s “Sea Fever”; Hundley’s “Epitaph on a Wife”; Cimarosa’s “Udite, tutti, udite” from “Il matrimonio segreto”; and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Lonely Room” from “Oklahoma.”

Brickey-Goldsmith will be accompanied on piano by Betty-Jane Phillips.

A music major with a concentration in vocal education, Brickey-Goldsmith expects to graduate in May 2009. He plans to become a music teacher as well as a performer and composer. Brickey-Goldsmith has studied under FSU instructor Dr. Jonathan Hodel. His earlier instruction was under Dr. Kerry Jennings and Patricia Kuzmick. Brickey-Goldsmith is an opera representative in the Friends of Music, president of the American Choral Directors Association Chapter at FSU and a member of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference Chapter at FSU.

He is the son of Marion and Lorne Brickey and a graduate of Chopticon High School.
