Frostburg State University Opera Theatre, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Hodel, will perform Humperdinck's opera masterpiece “Hansel and Gretel” on Thursday, Nov. 13, and Friday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall.
This popular children's story is filled with wonderful melodies that will charm children of all ages. It tells the timeless story of two poor children who are sent into the woods to pick berries. Losing their way, they must spend the night in the forest. The next day, they come face to face with a witch who lives in a gingerbread house. After escaping her grasp, the children set the gingerbread children free from the witch's spell and are finally reunited with their parents.
Tickets will be available at the door. Individual tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for University students and are free to those age 17 and younger. For more information, visit www.frostburg.edu/dept/music or call 301-687-4109.
