The Department of Visual Arts at Frostburg State University proudly announces the opening of “Pressed,” a senior thesis exhibition on view from Nov. 22 through Nov. 26 in FSU’s Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery. The opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 in the gallery.
“Pressed” includes work by three student artists: Alexandra Buchanan, Ryan Fletcher and Galen Hong. The three up-and-coming artists will show the outcome of four to five years of studying the arts at FSU and also allow the public to view the possible avenues that art may progressively move toward in the future.
Buchanan creates a variety of linoleum prints that encompass a wide range of patterning, intricate line direction, inanimate subject matter and vibrant color. Fletcher explores large-scale abstraction through the delicate living form of printmaking and painting. Hong makes a mix between graphic and organic styles, taking computer-generated graphic images and putting a hand-cut spin on them in his prints. Artworks will be available for purchase from the artists throughout the duration of the exhibit.
The Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery has free admission and is open to the public Sunday through Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information about the exhibition, please contact FSU Department of Visual Arts at (301) 687-4797.
