Frostburg State University’s chapter of Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) recently won two regional awards in the South Atlantic Division. The chapter won the Best Survivor Program of the Year for its 2007 Faculty/Staff Breakfast of Champions that honored cancer survivors and those who have been closely affected by the disease. The FSU chapter also won the CAC Chapter of the Year for its 2008 Relay for Life program and outstanding projects in cancer education, advocacy and survivorship.
The FSU CAC chapter raised $34,000 as a result of the 2008 Relay for Life. Tonecia Hargrove, chapter president, has begun work with other student leaders planning the 2009 Relay for Life Event, which will be held Friday, April 24, at Bobcat Stadium. The members of the FSU CAC chapter have set a new goal of $40,000 for the 2009 event. A Survivors’ Dinner will be held after the Relay for Life.
