Frostburg State University’s Wind Ensemble and University Chorale will present their winter concert, “Wintertime Aglow” on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. The concert will include a variety of selections that reflect the talent of each group.
Directed by Phillip Klickman, the FSU Wind Ensemble will perform “La Fiesta Mexicana” and “Prelude and Aztec Dance, Mass and Carnival” by H. Owen Reed, and Russian Christmas music by Alfred Reed.
Under the direction of Dr. Karen Soderberg-Sarnaker and accompanied by pianist Betty Jane Phillips, the University Chorale’s performance will include Robert Shaw’s arrangement of “Masters in This Hall,” featuring student conductor Joseph Brickey-Goldsmith, and “Go Where I Send Thee,” arranged by Andre Thomas and featuring student conductor Afton Price. Graduate student Jonathan Courtney will conduct “Candle Blessings for Chanukah,” arranged by Joshua Jacobson and featuring soprano Jessie Ragland, and “I Have a Little Dreydel,” arranged by Matthew Lazar and featuring tenor Sylvern Groomes. The Chorale will also perform Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols,” featuring sopranos Shakira Dixon and Stephanie Laut.
The program will conclude with a joint performance of “A Christmas Festival,” arranged by Russell Robinson and conducted by Klickman.
