FSU’s Afton Price Performs Senior Recital

Frostburg State University student Afton Price will perform her senior vocal recital on Friday, Feb. 20, at 8 p.m. in FSU’s Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. This performance is free and open to the public.

Singing in the vocal range of mezzo-soprano, Price will be accompanied by pianist Betty Jane Phillips. Price’s recital will also feature B.J. Lewis, guitar; Becca Snow, bass; and Colin Shultzaberger, drums. Price will perform pieces by Achille-Claude Debussy, Robert Schumann, William Bolcom and more.

As a music education major at FSU, Price hopes to become a music teacher within a vocal program at any grade level. Price is a former member of the FSU Chamber Choir, FSU Chorale and the FSU Jazz Ensemble. She is a member of the College Music Educators’ National Conference and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. Price has received multiple scholarships including the Marguerite Richards Scholarship and the Music Excellence Scholarship. She is expected to graduate in May 2009. Price, from Bedford, Pa., is the daughter of Terry and Rosie Price.
