Dr. Ahmad Tootoonchi, associate dean of the College of Business at Frostburg State University, has been named interim dean of the College of Business effective March 1 by Provost Stephen Simpson. Tootoonchi will replace Dr. Danny Arnold, who has accepted a position as dean of the College of Business at Missouri State University.
Tootoonchi joined the FSU faculty in 1989, served as chair of the Department of Management from 2003 to 2007 and has been associate dean since January 2008. He received the University’s Faculty Achievement Award in 1998 and 2003, is president of the International Academy of Business Disciplines and chief editor of the “Journal of International Business Disciplines.” He and Arnold co-authored “101 Leadership Tips” (Prentice Hall, 2007).
“He is an outstanding teacher and scholar,” Simpson said of Tootoonchi. “I am very pleased that we can call on Dr. Tootoonchi’s talents to take on this important role and continue the progress we have made in the College of Business.”
Arnold joined FSU as dean in 2003. In his time at FSU, he successfully shepherded the College of Business through accreditation by AACSB International, transformed the curriculum and administrative structure of the College, encouraged expanded professional development activities among faculty and increased the College’s engagement in regional economic and leadership development efforts. In addition, he helped to lead the University’s strategic planning efforts.
