“X-formation,” an exhibition that culminates four years of work by FSU seniors Josh O’Rourke, Sara Otto, Trayshia Rogers and Amiyn Ross, will be on view from Saturday, April 4, through Wednesday, April 8. An opening reception is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, in the Stephanie Ann Roper Fine Arts Gallery.
O'Rourke’s sculptural design emphasizes the rhythmic flow of static objects and the geometric simplicity of dynamic objects portraying the basics of life. Otto’s figurative paintings, prints and drawings apply tonality, color and gestural marks to examine ordinary life in an unexpected way. Rogers’ richly toned prints focus on line and mass to examine the spirit of the environment in which she lives. Ross’ artwork focuses on both the complexity of scientific drawings and the optical effects of color in abstract, organic forms. Artworks will be available for purchase from the artists throughout the duration of the exhibit.
The Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery has free admission and is open to the public Sunday through Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information about the exhibition, please contact FSU Department of Visual Arts at 301-687-4797.
