The Frostburg Center for Creative Writing will celebrate national poetry month by displaying poetry “broadsides” throughout the month of April at the Mountain City Coffeehouse and Creamery on 60 E. Main St., capped off Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. with a reading from the broadsides on display in the gallery.
Broadsides are the artistic renderings of poems. They are often limited editions prints or one-of-a-kind paintings. Several area writers and regional lovers of poetry will display broadsides from their own collections.
“I like the idea of having poems hung the way paintings are in a gallery. This will give the poems a fresh life, and I’m grateful to Mountain City for giving us a place to display these broadsides,” says Center Director Gerry LaFemina.
