Frostburg State University senior Alexandra Cozart will perform her senior vocal recital Sunday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. The recital is sponsored by the FSU Department of Music. The performance is free and open to the public.
Cozart will perform from “Strike the Viol,” “Hark! The ech’ing Air” and “If Music be the Food of Love” by Henry Purcell; “Après un rêve” “Ici-bas” and “Clair de lune” by Gabriel Faure; “Colección de tonadillas; El. Majo Disceto, El tra la la y el punteado El Majo Timido, La Maja Dolorsa No. 1 and La Maja Dolorsa No. 2” by Enrique Granados; “Quando me’n vo” from “La Bohème” by Giacomo Puccini; and “Glitter and be Gay” from “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein. Cozart will be accompanied by pianist Betty Jane Phillips.
As a vocal performance and music management major at FSU, Cozart hopes to attend graduate school and upon graduation become an opera singer and businesswoman in the music industry. Cozart is a member of Delta Zeta National Sorority, FSU Chamber Choir, FSU Opera Theatre, Order of Omega Greek Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society and she was 2008 Homecoming Queen. She has worked under faculty instructor Dr. Karen Soderberg. Cozart is expected to complete her degree in May 2009 and is the daughter of James & Cynthia Asimenios of Indian Head, Md.
