Frostburg State University senior James Ritchey will perform his senior vocal recital on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. Ritchey, who sings in the lyric baritone range, will be accompanied by pianist Nancy Witmer. The performance is free and open to the public.
Ritchey will perform compositions such as “Pur dicesti, o bocca bella” by Antonio Lotti, “Songs of a Wayfarer” by Gustave Mahler, “I’ll Sail Upon The Dog Star” by Henry Purcell and “More Sweet Is That Name” by George Handel. Ritchey will also perform multiple compositions by composers Benjamin Britten, Alessandro Scarletti and Richard Rodgers.
Ritchey is a music management major with a concentration in performance at FSU. He is a member of the Low Brass Society and CMENC. He is also a member of the Dean’s List and Honors program. Ritchey has a goal of becoming a music teacher on the secondary and collegiate levels. Ritchey, who plans to graduate in May 2010, is the son of Gordan Ritchey and 2005 graduate of Pocomoke High School.
