Hagerstown — On Wednesday, Dec. 9, Frostburg State University at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH) will officially launch a Small Business/Entrepreneurship concentration for students in the undergraduate business administration program. Dr. Marty Mattare, FSU at USMH business program director, will give a brief presentation about the program at 5:45 p.m. in the USMH Lobby.
In addition to the courses required for the Business Administration degree, the small business/entrepreneurship program features courses dedicated to the study of small business management and entrepreneurship. It is the only program offered regionally.
The entrepreneurship concentration is one of six different concentration areas business administration students may choose. “It is one of our largest business concentration at FSU,” said Mattare. “It is designed for those interested in starting and running their own businesses and we have had graduates who have started successful businesses upon receiving their degree,” said Mattare.
“Many of the courses in the concentration focus on business management, and what qualities are necessary to manage a small business,” said Mattare.
In conjunction with the program launch, 17 students in the Entrepreneurship Business Plan course will present their ideas and plans for small businesses, including restaurants, an auto repair, and a golf putting green. The presentations are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
