Frostburg State University’s Chamber Choir will present its Spring Concert, Sunday, April 25, at 4 p.m. in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 16 Washington St., Cumberland, Md. The concert is dedicated to the late Betty Jane Phillips, who was the choir’s accompanist.
The Chamber Choir performance will include “Ubi Caritas” by Oja Gjello, “Ubi Caritas” by Maurice Duruflé, “Sanctus” by Jan Sandström and “Gloria Patri” by Rihards Dubra. The secular selections include Eric Whitacre’s “Leonardo and His Flying Machine” and “Three Nocturnes” by Mortin Lauridsen. The Nocturnes were featured in the 2005 Raymond W. Brock Memorial Commission and premiered at the American Choral Directors Association National Convention in February 2005.
The program will end with “Calvary,” arranged by Steven Sametz, featuring tenor Lane Conklin, followed by “Ain’t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down,” arranged by Sean Ivory and Paul Caldwell and accompanied by pianist Joan DeVee Dixon.
