Frostburg State University Department of Music will present the FSU Jazz Ensemble in concert on Thursday, April 22, at 8 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Timothy Powell, the ensemble’s program will be selected from the following: “Milestones” by Miles Davis (arr. Dave Barduhn), “Boogie Stop Shuffle” by Charles Mingus (arr. Andrew Homzy), “Speak No Evil” and “Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum” by Wayne Shorter (arr. Mike Tomaro), “East Avenue Stroll” by Dean Sorenson, “Bye Bye Blackbird” by Ray Henderson (arr. Mark Taylor) and “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” by Joe Zawinul (Phil Wilson).
The jazz ensemble members are Tanika Henry, Danielle Sheally and Matt St. Jean on saxophones; Mike Gregory and Greg Isaacs on trombones; and Evan Schutz, Greg Brightbill, Jonathon Bryant and Darien Ervin on trumpets, with Jackie Skeweris, Jeff Pomerantz and Greg Jaeger in the rhythm section.
