Appalachian blues musician, Jeffrey Scott, will perform at Mountain City Traditional Arts, 25 E. Main St., Frostburg, on Saturday, March 5, at 7 p.m.
Scott is the nephew of legendary blues musician John Jackson. A Virginia native, he draws from the musical and community heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountain region. Scott has performed at many blues festivals around the country, and his repertoire includes Piedmont blues, country blues, gospel, jazz and ragtime.
He credits many of his songs and stories to his Uncle John, as well as the musical influences of John Cephas, Doc Watson, Mississippi Jon Hurt, Blind Boy Fuller and Blind Blake.
Dedicated to the education, sales, documentation and perpetuation of traditional art in the Appalachian region, Mountain City Traditional Arts is a partnership of Folklore & Folklife Programming at Frostburg State University, the Allegany Arts Council and FrostburgFirst: A Main Street Community.
