Frostburg State University’s Department of Visual Arts will present a faculty exhibition beginning with an opening reception on Friday, March 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery in the Fine Arts Building. The exhibit will be on view Sunday through Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. through Monday, March 28.
Jonathan Simon is the new art faculty member in charge of the illustration studio focus. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Memphis College of Art and Design and his master’s from the New York Academy of Figurative Art. Simon has studied at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He has studied anatomy firsthand, dissecting actual medical cadavers, and has logged over 80 hours of lab time. Simon was a finalist in The Artist’s Magazine 24th Annual Art Competition and won first place in the American Artist Cover Competition. His work has appeared in exhibitions in Florida, California, Georgia, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
Other FSU Visual Arts faculty members participating in the exhibition include Jackie Brown, Susan Dodge, Robert Hein, Dustin Davis, Mary Susan Bucchino, Dennis Sherald, Pete Herzfeld, Randall Rhodes, Harlowe Hodges, Judy Dieruf, Steve Matthews and Sharon Schade.
