Asia Taylor, Kelly Courtney, Jaleesa Greg and Emma Sisk, students from Frostburg State University’s Mass Communication Department, were chosen to participate in the “War on the Floor” event at the National Association of Broadcasters convention held in Las Vegas, Nev., April 9 through 14.
Two student teams were chosen from a nationwide search to attend the NAB convention where they will interact with vendors and learn more about the media production cycle. Teams will be required to shoot and edit a one- to two-minute video each day that is broadcast on NAB’s closed-circuit feed and seen by thousands on the convention floor.
NAB covers the cost for the student’s hotel rooms, conference registration and food. FSU President Jonathan Gibralter agreed to cover the cost for transportation to allow the students to represent FSU at an internationally recognized event.
NAB holds the annual convention where broadcasters, filmmakers and thousands of other media industry professionals attend seminars and experience the latest technology in broadcasting.
To see the students’ winning video submission,” Girls Do It Better,” which features interviews with each student about her career aspirations in a largely male-dominated industry, visit www.vimeo.com/mcom.
