Activities for Life at Frostburg State University will offer a beginner tumbling class for children ages 5 to 12 years and an intermediate/advanced tumbling class for more experienced tumblers Thursdays, April 21 through May 12, in Room 170 of the Cordts Physical Education Center. The beginner class will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the intermediate/advanced class will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The beginner class will include basic floor tumbling exercises and some work on the low balance beam. Space is limited to 15 participants with a minimum of seven.
For the intermediate/advanced class, requirements are a solid cartwheel and working toward a solid round-off, or a solid round-off and working toward a solid standing back handspring. Intermediate athletes will work toward a back handspring. Advanced athletes will work on a solid round-off, a solid standing back handspring, solid round-off back handspring series passes, round-off back handspring tucks, round-off tucks, standing tucks and punch fronts. This class is limited to 15 students with a minimum of seven.
