The Frostburg State University Children’s Literature Centre will present its annual Summer Author Institute the week of July 11 to 15 on the FSU campus. Undergraduate or graduate course credit is available for attending the workshop, which will feature three children’s authors and/or illustrators.
This year’s speakers are Lulu Delacre, author and illustrator of many books on the Latino culture and heritage; Rosalyn Schanzer, a picture book author who features American adventurers in history; and Henry Cole, an award-winning author and illustrator.
The workshop offers participants an opportunity to design curricular materials for use with children, to study the work of the three featured speakers and to interview one speaker as part of an author/illustrator study. This course is designed for current and pre-service teachers, as well community members with an interest in children’s literature.
Institute participants can earn three graduate or undergraduate credits during the week-long course. For more information, contact Dr. Jodi Welsch at 301-687-3096 or jwelsch@frostburg.edu.
