Activities for Life at Frostburg State University will be offering a Classical Dance Technique 2 class beginning Oct. 5 and continuing through Nov. 9. The classes will be instructed by Jamie McGreevy and will be held on Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Cordts Physical Education Center, room 106. The registration and payment deadline is Friday, Sept. 30.
The Beginner/Intermediate class will begin with classical barre exercises and progress to center floor work, including basic combinations and jumps. Stretches to improve flexibility will also be included. Throughout the class, dancers will explore contemporary movements within the confines of the classical technique. To be comfortable with all of these exercises, it is recommended that dancers have at least three years of ballet technique. Dancers should wear appropriate attire, such as leotards, tights and ballet slippers.
