Frostburg State University’s Department of Music will present a junior recital by soprano Kristin Brown on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.
Brown will perform Italian works by Mozart, Handel, Paisiello, Caccini and Parisotti, and German works by Brahms, Schuma and Mozart. She will also perform “Love’s Philosophy” and “Weep You No More” by Roger Quilter, as well as “It Won’t Be Long Now” from the musical “In the Heights” and “Gimmie, Gimmie” from the musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” She will be accompanied by pianist Judith Brown.
Brown studies voice with FSU instructor Dr. William Koehler, and is a member of FSU’s Opera Theatre, Chamber Choir and University Chorale. She is active in the Delta Zeta international sorority and FSU’s University Programming Council. A 2007 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Md., Brown expects to graduate from FSU in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, with a minor in Spanish. She plans to work in student affairs, but to also have many small singing jobs on the side. Brown is the daughter of Rhonda Davis of Kensington.
