The Frostburg Center for Creative Writing, in conjunction with the Allegany County Library System, ACT Personnel Service and A STAR! AmeriCorps, will host a five-week creative writing workshop series for elementary students at the Frostburg Public Library and middle and high school students at the LaVale Public Library. Workshops will be held on Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. beginning March 27.
Each workshop will combine poetry and fiction lessons with writing exercises, allowing students to produce their own creative works. At the Frostburg Public Library, first through third graders will meet in the Toll House Room with recent FSU graduate Joanna Eastham, and fourth through sixth graders will meet in the Library Meeting Room with local poet Nina Forsythe. At the LaVale Public Library, seventh and eighth graders will meet in the Children’s Area with recent FSU graduate Darcy Gagnon, and ninth and 10th graders will meet in the Library Meeting Room with FSU student Joe Sherrod.
Workshops are free and open to all elementary, middle and high school students. For more information or to participate, contact Jessica Palumbo at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the FSU Center for Creative Writing at 301-687-4340.
