Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to attend the R. Margaret Hamilton Children’s Hour at the Frostburg State University Lane Center on Friday, April 27, at 4 p.m. as part of FSU’s 2012 Spring Festival of Children’s Literature. This event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Children’s Literature Center and gives children the opportunity to attend a short workshop with one of the festival’s featured speakers.
Presenters at this year’s festival include a variety of authors and illustrators. Peter Catalanotto is the author and illustrator of the books, “Matthew A.B.C.” and “Question Boy Meets Little Miss Know It All.” David Wiesner is a three-time Caldecott award winner for his books, “Tuesday,” “The Three Little Pigs” and “Flotsam.” Author Judy Schachner is well-known for her picture book series, “Skippyjon Jones.” Pam Munoz Ryan is the author of the award-winning books, “Amelia and Eleanor Go for a Ride,” “Mice and Beans,” “Riding Freedom” and “Esperanza Rising.”
The books will be available for purchase before the sessions, and there will be time for autographing immediately following. To register, contact Dr. Jodi Welsch at 301-687-3096 or jwelsch@frostburg.edu.
