Frostburg State University will present the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award to Jeffrey P. Fegan, Class of ’76, chief executive officer of Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, at its 141st commencement ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 19, in the Cordts Physical Education Center Bobcat Arena.
Fegan has served as CEO of DFW since 1994, functioning as the chief administrator for the airport and recommending policies to the DFW Airport Board for planning, constructing, operating and regulating the airport. Under his direction, DFW has ranked among the world’s top five large airports for customer service in surveys conducted by Airports Council International. The airport has also adopted a comprehensive Sustainability Program in pursuit of environmental responsibility and has established an impressive track record for partnership on aviation safety and research.
Prior to coming to DFW Airport, Fegan was the Noise Abatement Officer at Westchester County Airport in New York. He was in the aviation consulting business from 1978 to 1983. Fegan earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from Frostburg and a Master of City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a member of the FSU Foundation, Inc., Board of Directors. He is married to Carol Sunderland Fegan, Class of ’76. They have two daughters.
The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is one of the most prestigious honors bestowed on FSU alumni.
