Frostburg State University to Offer Course in Basic Ceramics

Frostburg State University’s Visual Arts Department will host a community course in basic ceramics on Tuesday evenings, Sept. 8 through Oct. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the FSU Fine Arts Building, room 107. The class is open to the public and costs $160 per person, plus the cost of clay.

Kennedy Nursing Scholarship at FSU the Perfect Legacy for a Renaissance Woman

The late Enid Musser Kennedy was only a teenager when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, but she pledged her service as soon as she graduated from high school, entering the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps to serve in the U.S. Navy. World War II ended before she graduated from Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1947, however, so she became an operating room nurse at Miner’s Hospital in Frostburg instead.

FSU Center for Creative Writing Announces Winners of One-Act Playwriting Competition

The Frostburg Center for Creative Writing announces “Fifty Miles Away” by Jason Tinney of Frederick, Md., and Holly Morse-Ellington of Baltimore as the winner of the 2015 One-Act Playwriting Competition for the Frostburg One-Act Play Festival. The second-place play is “Death and the Psychiatrist” by James Hutchison of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and third place is “The Missed Connections Club” by Harold Taw and Chris Jeffries of Seattle, Wash.
