Professor Weiss is an adjunct faculty member in the nursing program at Frostburg State University. She works from her home outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as on the Frostburg campus. She holds a diploma of nursing from Conemaugh School of Nursing in Johnstown, PA, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA, and a master of nursing, women’s health nurse practitioner degree from Frontier University in Hyden, KY. She also holds a school nurse certificate from the University of Pittsburgh. She holds her board certification as a women’s health nurse practitioner from the National Certification Corporation.
Her teaching experience includes preceptoring and clinical supervision of nursing students in the RN program at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. Her clinical experience has varied from medical-surgical, pediatrics, mental health/psychiatric, women’s health – antepartum, labor and delivery, and nursery care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She currently works as a Nurse Practitioner in the Brady Health Center at Frostburg State University.
Professor Weiss believes that the online RN-BSN program allows RNs from all backgrounds and experience levels to enhance their nursing practice at both the theory and clinical skills level. She believes that the flexibility that the program offers lifts many barriers to a continued education as a working nurse. Her goal is to guide her students as independent adult learners to thrive in the nursing profession.
