Professor Hay is an Assistant Professor of the RN-BSN Program at Frostburg State University (FSU). She works on campus teaching face-to-face and online courses. Her educational background is a master's specialty in nursing education, which she earned through Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, NJ. She will also be going back to school this Fall to earn her Doctorate of Educational Leadership here at FSU.
Professor Hay has gained her nursing experience as a staff nurse in med-surg, ICU, and private pediatric practice. Additionally, she has gained her nursing education experience as a clinical and classroom instructor at a local community college program.
Professor Hay views education as a lifelong process involving a student, an instructor, and the learning environment. The student is one who actively participates within the learning environment (i.e. discussion board and virtual classroom) to gain meaning and understanding. The student uses critical thinking by asking questions and searching for evidence to solve problems. Previous knowledge is then incorporated with the new insights gained from these educational experiences. The instructor and student engage in the online environment learning from one another; this environment is one filled with mutual respect and caring. Professor Hay believes online education is an awesome, flexible way for working nurses to achieve their education goals. She enjoys this environment and has earned both her BSN and MSN within this virtual environment. She looks forward to working and interacting with you all throughout the program.
