FSU Institutional and Departmental Scholarships
Frostburg State University offers a variety of institutional and departmental scholarships. The amounts of these awards vary, and each has its own set of requirements that a student must meet in order to be eligible.
The requirements for institutional and departmental scholarships may include one or more of the following: academic performance, financial need, specific curriculum requirements, etc. Students must complete the Institutional Scholarship Form, along with a one-page essay, and submit these materials to the Financial Aid Department by March 1st in order to be considered for these awards.
Departmental scholarships may require a separate application, and students wishing to apply for departmental scholarships should contact the department on campus offering the award. Submit nursing departmental scholarship forms to the Coordinator of the Nursing Program by March 1st.

MHEC (Maryland Higher Education Commission) Grants
Work Force Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program
The Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant (WSSAG) program is for students who plan on working in specific career/occupational programs upon graduation. Eligible fields include: childcare, human services, teaching, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and public service. Tuition Reduction for Non-Resident Nursing Students
You must be a resident of a state other than Maryland. You must enroll at a two-year or four-year Maryland public college or university as a full-time (12+ credits per semester) or part-time (6-11 credits per semester), degree seeking undergraduate student. Audited courses cannot be used to reach the minimum credit hours required for full-time or part-time status. You must be accepted into a nursing program. Graduates of Maryland community colleges may now be able to attend Frostburg State University at a significant discount, following the establishment of the FSU Associate Degree Scholars Award. Nursing Scholarship Program
The Nursing Scholarship Program (NSP) provides scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum 2-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent) at an eligible health care facility located in a primary care or mental health Health Professional Shortage Area, also known as a Critical Shortage Facility. While in school, NSP participants receive tuition and fees, an annual payment for other reasonable costs to cover expenses for books, clinical supplies, and instruments, and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses.
For 2012, the program is adapting to the increasing demand for nurse practitioners by reserving up to half of the award funds for students pursuing a master's level nurse practitioner degree.
