In order to participate in a fully online, blended or web-enhanced course at FSU, students must have reliable access to a computer with Internet access. The computer system the student uses must fulfill the requirements listed within this page. All computers available in the student computer labs on campus meet these hardware requirements.

Operating System:

  • For PC:  Windows Operating System, XP or later
  • For Mac:  Mac Operating System 10.6 Snow Leopard or later

Other Software:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Microsoft Office 2007 or later for Windows
  • Microsoft Office 2008 or later for Macs
  • Any current web browser (i.e. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) with Javascript and cookies enabled.

Investing in a headset (with microphone capabilities) as well as a webcam will be your best option for participating in an online course that uses Blackboard Collaborate.  This would include classes that meet online at a specific day/time throughout the semester.  More detailed information about Blackboard Collaborate requirements can be found here.
