A Message from the Vice President for
Student and Educational Services

Dr. Tom BowlingAs your students begins their academic career at Frostburg State University, our faculty and staff stand ready to help them acquire the knowledge and skills they will need to reach their full potential.

Adjustment to university life involves numerous transitions – for both students and parents. There is one course that all first-year students enroll in during their first semester here – Introduction to Higher Education 101. This one-credit orientation course will be part of your students’ learning community and is designed to help them make responsible choices and to succeed, both academically and personally. The instructor of this course will initially serve as the academic advisor for your son or daughter. Academic advisors serve as a source of information and advice as students sort our various decisions. Please encourage your son or daughter to seek out this advice – it can prove to be invaluable.

The university experience is not limited to what occurs in the classroom. Co-curricular activities are an integral part of FSU’s orientation course. Participating in these cultural and educational activities helps students feel more connected to the campus community.

Welcome to Frostburg State University. We look forward to working with your students and wish them every success during their years with us.

Sincerely,

Signature
Thomas L. Bowling
