“This effort will clarify and articulate a distinctive Frostburg Experience for
undergraduates in the context of higher education in the twenty-first century.”
Dr. Stephen Simpson, Provost
May 16, 2002
With this charge, the Undergraduate Education Initiative (UEI), under the guidance of its Steering Committee and with the input of scores of faculty, staff and students, embarked upon and completed a three-year, comprehensive review of FSU’s undergraduate programs.
Through fall 2004, faculty, focus groups, sub-committees, and open-agenda meetings served as sites for discussions about every aspect of undergraduate education at FSU in answer to a simple question: What should our students learn? In fall 2004, the final report of the steering committee was accepted; by spring 2005, the “first wave” of changes were established for implementation in the fall of 2005.
