The Goals of the Undergraduate Educational Initiative

  1. Clarify and articulate the goals of undergraduate education at Frostburg State University.

  2. Specify measurable outcomes that we expect students to have achieved by the time they graduate; this should be done in a manner that will facilitate assessment.

  3. Contain recommendations for retaining and expanding current practices that are effective and consistent with the outcomes required of Undergraduate Education.

  4. Contain recommendations for suggested enhancements in or changes to:

    · Academic programs and curriculum (including the
      General Education  Program);
    · Student-faculty interaction, pedagogy, and the   architecture of learning;
    · Volunteerism and service learning;
    · Mentorship and undergraduate research   opportunities;
    · Laboratory, simulation, and practicum experiences;
    · Multicultural, international, and diversity curriculum   and experiences;
    · Infusion of technological fluency across the   curriculum;
    · Honors education and opportunities both in the GEP   and in majors;
    · Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and   student life for transfer and non-traditional students   as well as for native students; and
