Proposal Forms and Documents This page provides links to downloadable documents needed for submittal of proposals for all current UEI initiatives. The Timeline provides specific dates for submittal of proposals. Please note that the deadlines for NEW or EXISTING course proposals are different. IDIS 150 (First-Year Colloquium) The Abstract is distilled from the UEI final report and provides an overview of the course’s rationale and the educational philosophy behind its inclusion in the general education program. The Faculty Information Sheet explains various requirements and guidelines for faculty submitting IDIS 150 proposals. The Proposal Form MUST be followed in order to ensure that all courses meet guidelines for interdisciplinary courses as approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Note that the form is downloadable, with tables provided to allow easy insertion of the proposal’s narrative. The Timeline outlines specific criteria regarding process of submittal. The Sample Proposal illustrates how a recently-approved course was submitted. The UUCR Review form is provided as an item of information to illustrate the priorities used by the University Undergraduate Curriculum Requirements Sub-Committee (UUCR) in its review of IDIS 150 proposals.
The approved criteria document provides guidelines for FSU’s capstone experience. As of Fall 2007, every major and department has an approved capstone experience. IDIS 350 (Advanced FSU Colloquium) The Abstract is distilled from the UEI final report and provides an overview of the course’s rationale and the educational philosophy behind its inclusion in the general education program. The Advanced FSU Colloquia is slated for full implementation as of fall 2009. However, the course will continue in its pilot phase—with its inclusion as an optional General Education elective—through the spring of 2009. The course proposal form can be submitted to the University Undergraduate Curriculum Requirements Sub-Committee at any time; courses will be offered as faculty time and resources allow through 2009. Note that the course proposal must adhere strictly to the requirements as approved by Maryland Higher Education Commission. The 2007-2008 Advanced Colloquium Overview will provide faculty with information concerning expectations and compensation for faculty members teaching Advanced Colloquium courses
Identity and Difference Courses The proposal form provides both the guidelines for Identity and Difference courses and the format for submittal of proposals. Note that the proposal form is for existing courses only; new courses must be submitted and reviewed through established faculty governance channels.
