Undergraduate Program

The Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Parks Management at FSU offers students the chance to pursue careers in the field of their passions through specialized hands-on experiences under the guidance of faculty.

The program is great preparation for a career as a park ranger, program staff at a resort, campus recreation staff, sports promotion specialist, camp director, or an adventure sports specialist. It is also an excellent pathway to a career providing recreation programs in communities or senior living facilities that help young and old be active, creative, and pursue healthy lifestyles.

Students are mentored through the educational process which prepares them to enter a field they are not only qualified for but one that they love.

Accreditation

Council on Accreditation for Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT)Participate in a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT). It is one of only 100 programs in the country that meet the COAPRT accreditation standards.

Frostburg State University's Recreation and Park Management Program received initial accreditation in 2000. Currently, the program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT). COAPRT accredits baccalaureate programs in parks, recreation, tourism, sport management, event management, therapeutic recreation, and leisure studies offered at regionally accredited institutions within the United States and its territories, and at nationally accredited institutions in Canada and Mexico.

The accreditation process is designed to provide students with experiential experiences, hands-on training, active engagement in the community, and an up-to-date curriculum delivered by quality educators. Our Recreation and Parks Management accreditation by COAPRT is valid until the program's next review in 2022.
