NRPA/AAPAR Accreditation

The Recreation and Parks Management Program is accredited by the NRPA/AAPAR, the accreditation agency for the recreation and parks discipline. The program received initial accreditation in 2000 and "continuing accreditation" in 2005. Accreditation is a way to help insure a quality program for students. Listed below are several benefits of accreditation.

  • Upon graduation, students from accredited programs can take the certifying examination for the CPRS (Certified Park and Recreation Specialist).

  • By meeting accreditation standards, the program is recognized as meeting the minimum standards necessary to prepare students for a career in the discipline.

  • Accreditation is a peer review of the program that helps to insure a quality program for students.
