Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Catonsville

To meet the needs for a quality program in the Baltimore area, the Recreation and Parks Management Program developed a collaborative program that provides a four-year degree (i.e. BS degree) in Recreation and Parks Management at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Catonsville.

The program addresses the needs of the following groups: traditional students, students who are already working in the field and who desire a degree in the field, and students who because of family, work or because of other commitments, cannot relocate to the main campus at Frostburg. The program has two main offerings. You may obtain either the broad-based degree in Recreation and Parks Management or you may obtain a degree in Recreation and Parks Management with a Concentration in Therapeutic Recreation.

You may complete the program through one of several methods. First, you may enter the program directly at the CCBC and complete the major. Usually, these students have an Associate's degree or are completing the Therapeutic Recreation Concentration. Second, you may complete the program in the more traditional 2 plus 2 approach where you complete the associate's degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism at the CCBC and then enter directly into the Frostburg program located at CCBC. Either way, you may complete your program entirely within the Baltimore region.

Listed below are several reasons why the program at CCBC may be your program of study.

• You can complete a four-year program in Recreation and Parks Management at the CCBC, Catonsville Campus.
  
  
• You can complete a four-year degree in therapeutic recreation (i.e. Therapeutic Recreation Concentration) at CCBC.
  
  
• You cannot complete one of the other concentrations without traveling to the main campus in Frostburg (e.g. Community Program Delivery, Adventure Sports or Hospitality Management).
  
  
• Traditional students who are just graduating from high school can complete CCBC program in Recreation, Parks and Tourism first and then transfer directly into the Frostburg program seamlessly, in an integrated program.
  
  
• Students who have already earned a degree (i.e. an associate's or bachelor's degree) can enter directly into the Frostburg State University program located at CCBC.
  
  
• Many "non-traditional" students, because of work or family commitments, find this an attractive program since they cannot travel to the main campus of Frostburg to complete the program.
