Concentrations - Hospitality Management &
Tourism
The Hospitality Management and Tourism Concentration
is a collaborative program with Allegany College of Maryland (ACOM). This
is a unique program that combines the ability of the community college to
teach practical skills with a traditional four-year education. Students
may complete the program by entering it at Frostburg and then taking concentration
courses at Allegany College of Maryland or they may enter Allegany College
directly and transfer to Frostburg after completing the program at ACOM.
For Frostburg students, you learn recreation programming at Frostburg
where you deal directly with the customer and then you learn the operations
or what goes on behind the scenes with the Hotel/Motel Management program
at ACOM. Listed below are several reasons why many students consider our
program for their course of study:
- You will gain practical learning in the hospitality
industry. For example, Allegany College has an operational lab in Cumberland
with the Gateway Center restaurant that provides students
with "first hand learning by doing"
regarding the hospitality industry.
- As a Frostburg student, you can earn a concentration
in Hospitality Management and Tourism from Frostburg State University.
Many students transfer or "reverse articulate"
their general education classes from Frostburg to ACOM and earn an AAS
degree from ACOM in Hotel/Motel Management. Ask us more about
this program.
