Concentrations - Therapeutic Recreation
The Therapeutic Recreation Concentration
prepares students to enter therapeutic recreation settings ranging from
the community to clinical setting. Upon graduation, students should be eligible
to sit for the NCTRC certification. Listed below are several reasons why
you might want to consider therapeutic recreation as a course of study:
- The curriculum is designed to meet the professional
standards of NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification)
and to prepare you to sit for the CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation
Specialist) certification examination.
- Some career opportunities include working as inclusion
specialists at local community facility, as an activity director at
a long term care facility, as a worker in a senior center, as a programmer
who works with youth at risk, as an activity specialist at a rehabilitation
and psychiatric center, and as a leader and director at a year round
camp.
- The concentration is offered at both the main campus
and at the CCBC in Catonsville. (Community College of Baltimore at Catonsville),
This collaborative program magnifies the ability of the program to deliver
a quality program in the Baltimore area. Click here to travel to our
