Two-Dimensional Design

This week-long workshop will introduce the basic elements and principles of two-dimensional design. Participants will learn and use problem solving strategies to create artwork that explores line, shape, color, space, and more to develop the skills needed for more advanced work. Each day will be dedicated to demonstrations, studio time and critiques. The workshop will culminate in a portfolio presentation of art created during the week.

Through participation in class, students will:

• Combine visual forces to activate a composition;
• Learn strategies to expand, to refine and to better communicate through art;
• Improve technical skills.

Participants will be provided all necessary supplies to complete each project.

The summer 2008 institute will be held July 6-12.
