Smoking Cessation Support

Broken Cigarette

As reported by the Centers for Disease Control, 70% of reported adult smokers shared that they wanted to quit smoking completely.

The research and studies of the impact of smoking upon our health reveal that deaths associated with tobacco use surpass all deaths from the HIV virus, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle accidents, suicides, and murders combined.

At Frostburg State University, we are committed to providing a healthy environment for our students and staff along with helping to provide smoking cessation resources.

For Students

For students, our Brady Health Center provides FREE smoking cessation support.

The smoking cessation program is free to all FSU students. When funding is available, the program offers several different nicotine replacement products. Also medication may be used if indicated.

Each student gets an initial visit with a Nurse Practitioner. The visit includes a brief exam, smoking history and provides the student with educational materials to assist with their efforts to quit smoking.

Follow-up appointments are given every 2 weeks. At these appointments, the student will give updates on progress and be given additional supplies as needed. This program typically lasts from 2-12 weeks, depending on products used."
