Welcome to the eFrostburg Community!

Student ImageAdd your voice to our growing online conversation.

Frostburg State University realizes that in addition to getting to know one another in person, many of us connect through social media, creating online communities where we share information with each other. Social media like Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter can be exciting because they allow us to tell stories, communicate ideas and post online content quickly and easily, and interact with people all over the world. They give FSU new opportunities to connect with current and prospective students, employees, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, friends and other constituents. We like to think of this collectively as the eFrostburg Community.

As members of the eFrostburg Community, we all play a part in how FSU is telling its story through social media and maintaining its reputation. We all have the chance to be ambassadors for Frostburg every time we communicate through FSU’s official social media outlets.

To facilitate this effort, FSU has developed some social media guidelines to help the University’s faculty and staff use social media to communicate and market FSU departments, programs and divisions, and participate in these FSU social media communities.

FSU also recommends the University’s eFrostburg Directory, where you can discover how the University is connecting with people all over the world through social media. You can browse by “media type,” where you’ll find Bobcats on Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, Blogger, MySpace and more. If you’re a member of a University department, organization, student group or some other type of FSU social network and don’t see your social media effort listed here, let us know about it.

We realize that social media also raises a lot of questions because it can blur the lines between public and private, the professional and the personal. You may find that FSU’s social media guidelines are a resource for your personal use of social media, too. You can also find additional ideas about personal social media use here.
