1) Collection of Planning Assumptions. The Strategic Planning Team (SPT) conducted an analysis of FSU's external and internal environment as it applied to political, technological, market, environmental, sociocultural, and academic forces. 2) Development of FSU's Draft Strategic Plan. By utilizing small working groups, the SPT revised FSU's current Mission, created a new Vision, and developed a list of institutional Core Values. The group identified nine Master Goals that are fundamental to FSU's Mission and 17 Strategic Directions that will focus resources and actions. For each Strategic Direction, the SPT developed preliminary lists of key performance indicators and potential action items. 3) Presentation of FSU's Draft Plan and Development of Intermediate Plan. The Draft Strategic Plan was presented to the FSU community in 2008 on December 1st and 2nd via public presentations and a strategic planning charette. The campus community provided valuable input on the plan. This information was incorporated into an Intermediate Strategic Plan. 4) Collection of Input from Planning Units. FSU planning units were identified in spring 2009 through a series of meetings. Each planning unit is charged with submitting a Strategic Direction Form. The completed form will identify those strategic directions that will be a priority focus for the planning unit, and the action items that are tied to those strategic directions. 5) Development and Presentation of FSU's Final Strategic Plan. Members of the Strategic Planning Team will finalize the planning document and submit it for publication in summer 2009. The final plan will be presented to the FSU community in fall 2009. The Strategic Planning Team will be restructured into a new, permanent committee charged with ongoing environmental analysis and scheduled revisions to planning documents. Planning Process Documents.
