The Planning Process

The Planning Process Flow Chart best defines the approved planning process that FSU is using to develop its strategic plan. The FSU Planning Document provides a detailed overview of the process as approved by the Executive Committee in August 2007.

Phases of the Planning Process

Pre-planning: In spring 2007, 191 members of the University community expressed their vision of the University in a series of Vision Forums. Their input has been analyzed and compiled into a draft Vision Statement. The Strategic Planning Team will further refine these drafts as part of the planning process.

Phase 1: Develop draft of foundation statements

NOW AVAILABLE: Draft versions of the revised mission and suggested Vision, Core Values, and Master Goals can be reviewed in this PDF spreadsheet (on 8.5 x 14 paper, if you want to print). If you wish, you are welcome to send comments to any member of the Strategic Planning Team. A series of open campus meetings will be scheduled this fall to solicit input from the entire community.

Phase 2: Hold public meetings and confirm final foundations

Phase 3: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs)

Phase 4: Develop draft of overall planning process for final review and implementation

Phase 5: Implement a transparent and inclusive planning and budgeting process

Note: With distribution of the final plan, multiple meetings and seminars are held to assist planning units with development of their own strategic plans.
