July 14-15, 2006 - First Trident Initiatve
Conference
On behalf of The Trident Initiative, the City of Cumberland's
Western Maryland Business Resource Center, as well as the Western Maryland
SCORE Chapter 682, we are pleased to announce the joint hosting of our
First Annual Conference. The event will feature
business and entrepreneurial opportunities in Cumberland and Frostburg.
There will be many educational and practical discussions with the participation
of regional business resource providers, many area governmental, academic,
and other presenters.
Location:
Friday, July 14 at the Windsor Hall, 39 Baltimore
Street Downtown Cumberland, Maryland and Saturday, July 15 at
the Compton Science Center of Frostburg State University.

Location: Our Discussion will be held at the University
Campus, Guild Center Building, Room 240, from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Topic: Student Presentation of Seed Money Projects
Frostburg State students will briefly present the progress
of their seed money projects to the community and faculty. Questions,
answers, and discussion among participants will follow.

- December 11, 2006 - Presentation
Location: ARMAH Room at the Lane University Center,
from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Topic: Student's Business Projects
Students in the New Business Ventures course are required to
start a business. Each student is provided with up to $150 in seed capital
for this enterprise. This experiential project seeks to expose students
to the fundamentals of doing business, the elements of idea generation,
and preparation of necessary financial statements. This year, the Trident
Initiative is pleased to recognize the most promising business projects
based on a variety of criteria that include creativity, team work, organization,
and business performance. Awards for winning projects will be determined
by a panel of judges and given out this evening.
