At Frostburg, the total yearly cost (tuition, fees, room and board) is one of the best values anywhere. We try to meet transfer students’ college funding needs, offering scholarships, grants, loans and campus employment.
Frostburg State University has long valued the academic commitment of our community college transfer students. This award has been developed to recognize and honor transfer students who have earned an Associate Degree with high academic standing.
This award will help keep the tuition cost at FSU close to the amount that students pay at their community colleges.
To be eligible, you must have earned a minimum of 30 transferable credits at time of application AND a 3.7 cumulative GPA. You must enroll at FSU full time. The award varies from $1,000 to $2,000 per academic year to be applied toward total cost of education. It may be renewed for up to six semesters provided you maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and complete at least 24 credits per academic year. The degree of student’s academic excellence will determine the initial amount of the award. Students with financial need may be eligible for additional funds; therefore, all applicants are encouraged to file the FAFSA form. Transfer students are not eligible to receive both the Academic Excellence and the Associate Degree Scholarships.
The recipient must have completed a high school education or equivalency in either Allegany or Garrett counties of Maryland and be enrolled at FSU with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better, or be accepted with a transferable overall grade point average of 3.0 or better. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
