Why FSU?
I chose Frostburg State University for many different reasons. I first learned of FSU when I was recruited for the swim team during my senior year in high school. Once I started looking into the school, I realized it was perfect for me. I was really drawn in by how friendly everyone was when I toured the campus, and by how beautiful the mountains are that surround the university. I loved the small-town feel of Main Street, Frostburg, where local shops and restaurants are located for my friends and me to visit on the weekends or when we didn’t have class. I also learned that the Athletic Training program is very hands-on, giving Frostburg graduates more real life experience than Athletic Training students of other schools. I have never even once regretted my decision to come to FSU.

How I stay involved
During my freshman year at Frostburg State University I joined the AmeriCorps sponsored program, ECHOSTARS, which helps students get involved in community service work in Frostburg and the surrounding area. I am also a member of the Frostburg State University Swim Team, and that keeps me very in touch with what is going on within the athletic community. As one of the swim team’s two Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representatives, I help set up activities and address issues for the Athletic Department of Frostburg State University. During the spring semester of my freshman year, I even helped found the Frostburg Intramural Water Polo Club. Finally, I decided I really wanted to help prospective students learn more about what there is to love at Frostburg, and that’s when I became a member of the Bobcat Ambassador Team!

Life after the Burg
After “the Burg,” my dream is to move to NYC to complete a graduate program in Physical Therapy while working as an Athletic Trainer for a local high school or college. I would like to complete an internship at a Therapeutic Riding Facility in order understand what it would be like to own my own Therapeutic Riding program. I eventually plan to open a Therapeutic Riding Facility that will provide physical therapy and nutritional help to people with special needs and also to wounded veterans.
