Frostburg State University became one of my top choices only after I visited campus to see my sister. That is when I really had an opportunity to tour FSU and understand campus life, and the result? ... I developed a special bond with FSU! I find the learning environment effective because the class sizes are small and the professors actually know their students by name. I like that my professors show an interest in seeing students succeed in all aspects of life. It’s also comforting to know that if I run into a familiar friend, staff or faculty member on campus, they are sure to smile and ask me how my day is going. I also love that there's always something to do around Frostburg, from sporting activities (even hiking and snowboarding!), to different extracurricular activities like Greek Life, and don’t forget all the great dining spots in town. I could not have asked for a better school to further my education!
How I stay involved
As a freshman, I was enrolled in the AmeriCorps sponsored program ECHOSTARS, a program designed to allow students to give back to the community through volunteer service. I was able to become actively involved in my dorm building by being a member of Cumberland’s Hall council, and was even voted Vice President during the spring semester of my freshmen year. I recently became a Bobcat Ambassador because I want to be able to show prospective students exactly what Frostburg State University has to offer!
Life after the Burg
After Frostburg, I plan to be an intern at the National Institute of Health (NIH) because I want to assist with cancer research, specifically helping to find a cure. I then plan on earning my graduate degree to become a marriage and family counselor and hope to become a social activist for children around the world.
