Why FSU?
I chose FSU because I wanted to attend a university far enough that I could establish myself as a young woman, but close enough that I could escape from campus life when necessary. FSU was a perfect balance of a diverse and intimate university tucked away in the mountains (that are absolutely stunning especially during the seasonal changes). What I love about FSU is that you aren’t just a number on campus; you’re a student with feelings, circumstances, and sometimes setbacks. FSU is a university that promotes growth, not only during the traditional four years as an undergraduate student, but also after graduation. FSU provides life-long networks, support systems, and friendships that will be useful to any student who takes initiative to be involved on campus.

How I stay involved
As a freshman in college, I was recruited into the G.O.L.D (Generating Opportunities for Leadership Development) program that taught its members how to become successful leaders on and off campus. The G.O.L.D program gave me a foundation here at FSU that promoted time-management, leadership enhancement traits, as well as networking opportunities. G.O.L.D provided mentors and an open-door policy with advisors that made the transition from high school to college a smooth one. I also became apart of the United Voices Under God’s Dominion (UVUGD) Gospel Choir, as well as the African Student Association (ASA) events in my sophomore year. Junior year, I was inducted into the National Society for Leadership and Success (NSLS) organization, which also focuses on leadership enhancement and networking. While currently in my senior year, I was able to join the Bobcat Ambassador team to promote the perks of becoming an FSU bobcat to prospective students.

Life after the Burg
I plan to continue my education part-time as I begin my career in psychology, sociology, and media. I would like to explore career options and eventually relocate to New York. I love working with people and would like to be a positive influence in society in any way possible.
