Award Letters - Awarding Philosophy
The Financial Aid Office at Frostburg State University
is committed to helping parents and students find a way to cover educational
costs associated with securing a post-secondary education. Frostburg
State University's financial aid awarding philosophy is as follows:
-
Follow federal guidelines when determining
Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG),
and Perkins Loan awards. Federal guidelines stipulate that these awards
be given to the students with the greatest financial need
-
Utilize Frostburg State University's
institutional funding to assist all students with the cost of their
education, until all institutional financial aid funding is gone
-
Award Federal College Work-Study
funds to eligible students according to the date each student's
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA form) is processed.
When several students have the same FAFSA process date, Federal
College Work-Study funds are given to those students with the
greatest amount of financial need first
-
Automatically offer students
the maximum amount of student loan funding they are allowed
according to federal regulations
-
Offer Parent PLUS Loans upon
request to the parents of students who do not have enough other
financial aid to cover the cost of attendance at FSU.
Please call the Financial Aid Office at (301) 687-4301
if you have questions or concerns, or to review the Awarding Philosophy
in its entirety.
