Departmental Scholarships - Chemistry
Roscoe Bartlett Scholarship
Department/Contact: Chemistry/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time student with a declared
major in math/biology/chemistry/physics or engineering and a resident
of the Sixth Congressional District (Allegany, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett,
Howard or Washington counties of Maryland). The applicant must have
an overall GPA of 3.0 or above and a 3.5 GPA in the major. A preference
is given to renewal applicants. Demonstrated need may be a determining
factor.

Janice M. and Palmer L. Beebe Chemistry Achievement
Scholarship
Department/Contact: Chemistry/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time, senior chemistry major
with a cumulative FSU grade point average of 3.0 or above and 3.4 grade
point average in chemistry.

Borden Mining Company Scholarship
- In Honor of Albert and Elizabeth Borden
Department/Contact: CLAS/Associate Dean
Criteria: Applicants must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate
student, 3.0 grade point average with a declared major one of the
following: biology, chemistry, geography, physics or engineering.
Applicants must have demonstrated interest in research projects as
shown by previous scholarship or research or membership or by avocation.
A preference is given to projects associated with mining concerns
including but not limited to reclamation, water quality, wildlife
and environmental planning. Preference given to a Frostburg resident,
defined as residing in the 21532 zip code area. The award may be received
for two consecutive years.

Dr. Wally S. Hijab Memorial Scholarship
Department/Contact: Chemistry/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with
a demonstrated interest in a career in a medical field as shown
by a pre-professional medical or health profession course of studies
and a declared major in chemistry, physics, or biology. An overall
grade point average of 3.0 or better is required. Awards may be
received for two consecutive years.

Dr. Paul Hunt Chemistry Achievement
Award
Department/Contact: Chemistry/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must have completed three undergraduate
level chemistry courses (12 or more credit hours) with at least
two of the three at Frostburg State University with a cumulative
grade point average of 3.0 or better. Recipient must have served
at least two semesters as a laboratory assistant in the chemistry
department. The award is intended to reward students for demonstrated
academic accomplishment and work performance.

Special Recognition Award
Department/Contact: Chemistry/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a junior chemistry major and have
shown interest and ability in the field of chemistry as demonstrated
by academic achievement or research or membership or avocation.
An overall FSU grade point average of 3.0 or above is required.
